It is a warm summer afternoon in Rajasthan, India. A stray dog, without a care in the world, takes an afternoon nap on the sitting bench outside a typical house within the Jaisalmer Fort complex. The cool shade in this narrow cobblestoned street gives him a welcome respite in the strong summer heat. I love the blissful smile on his sleeping face! Stray dogs and cats, cows and humans all coexist happily on the roads of rural and urban India!

Although at one point the entire population of Jaisalmer lived within the fort, today it still has a resident population of about 4,000 people!!
